Our family system is an intricate web that connects past, present, and future generations. In Family Constellations therapy, we come to experience—firsthand—how deeply and unconsciously we are linked to our ancestors. When someone in our lineage has been excluded—through unacknowledged grief, family secrets, or unspoken trauma—these hidden dynamics can quietly shape our emotional lives, relationships, and wellbeing.
Even when events are forgotten or never spoken of, they don’t disappear—they are carried forward through the systemic family field. This is the foundation of systemic therapy, where we look not only at the individual but at the larger family soul.
For instance, a family member from generations ago may have been:
These unresolved experiences can become part of the unconscious emotional blueprint passed down through the family. Even if they are not consciously remembered, they are held within the family system, quietly echoing through generations in ways we may never fully realise.
How is it that an adopted child, with no knowledge of their biological family, may share similar interests, behaviours, or struggles? Why does someone, upon reaching the age their grandmother was when she lost her husband, experience irrational fears of abandonment, even in a secure relationship? Why does another continually gain and lose wealth, echoing an ancestor whose fortune was unjustly taken? Could a lingering, unexplained depression be tied to a great-grandparent’s devastation in the Great Depression?
Oftentimes what appears to be a personal issue—depression, fear, self-sabotage, etc—might in fact be an inherited emotional burden carried out of unconscious love for someone who was excluded.
These patterns often emerge generations later, manifesting as emotions or behaviors that seem to have no clear origin. People may seek various forms of support, yet the issue persists. In Family Constellations, we don’t just focus on the individual—we look at the entire family system. Even if we don’t consciously know our family’s history, the body and soul remember. Through this work, we uncover hidden entanglements—unconscious acts of love where we carry the burdens of past family members in an attempt to reintegrate them into the family soul.
One of the most profound aspects of Family Constellations is the process of representation. In a session, we may be invited to step into the role of someone else’s family member—perhaps a parent, grandparent, or sibling, or even a person long forgotten.
With no prior knowledge of their story, we may suddenly feel emotions, physical sensations, or insights that make no sense in our own life, yet resonate deeply with the person we are representing. This phenomenon occurs because we tap into the family’s morphic field—the collective energy of the family soul. It is the energetic imprint of the family system that holds the memory of these entanglements.
What makes this work especially powerful is that your entire family doesn’t need to be involved—nor do they even need to know you’re engaging in this healing. The changes initiated through this process ripple through the system, bringing balance, inclusion, and deep relief.
Whether someone is alive or has passed, the healing of ancestral trauma can still occur. It’s about restoring the natural flow of love through the lineage and releasing what we were never meant to carry.
If you’ve tried traditional therapies, self-development tools, or spiritual practices and still find yourself stuck in repeating patterns—you are not alone. Family Constellations offers a soulful, embodied, and often surprising approach to generational healing.
Through this work, we honour those who came before us, restore what has been lost, and begin to live more freely—not just for ourselves, but for future generations.
If this resonates with something deep inside you—something that doesn’t quite have words—perhaps it’s time to explore the unseen. I invite you to join me in this profound process of release, remembrance, and renewal.
